The family provides a loving and supportive environment for family members. If a family becomes involved with internal conflict, distortion, and violence between individuals, it loses its status as an emotional-psychological base for its members. In this regard, marital conflict is one of the problems that families face all over the world. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of emotion-based schema therapy and short-term solution-based therapy on psychological well-being and flexibility-action in women with marital conflict. The statistical population of this study included all women referring to psychological centers in Ahvaz in 2019 that 45 women were selected by purposive sampling and randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group. The Marital Conflict Questionnaire (MCQ), Psychological Well-Being (PWB), and Action Flexibility (CD-RIS) questionnaires were used to collect data. The present study was an experimental field study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The first experimental group received emotion-based schema therapy intervention (twelve 120-minutes sessions) and the second experimental group received short-term solution-based therapy (six 120-minutes sessions), and the control group did not receive any intervention. The results showed that both therapeutic interventions were effective in increasing psychological well-being and action flexibility in women with marital conflict who were referred to psychological centers. However, there was no significant difference between the effectiveness of the two therapies on psychological well-being and functional flexibility in the respondents. Therefore, it is possible to use emotion-based therapy schema and short-term solution-based therapies to increase psychological well-being and flexibility of action in these women.

Abstract: In many couples, the primary positive feelings are decreased by passing time and are replaced with acute conflicts. Using destructive conflict resolution styles increases the distance between the couples, while their ability to apply problem solving skills can be a factor to improve the couples’ relationships. The present study was conducted aiming at determining the effectiveness of Olson Circumference Model in the couples’ resiliency and marital conflicts. The present study was an experimental research of pretest-posttest type with a control group. Participants of the study were 20 couples assigned to the experimental and the control groups. The experimental group was then influenced by the Olson Circumplex Model during eight (90-120 minutes) instruction held once a week. The instruments of the study were Resiliency Scale (CD-RISC) and Marital Conflict Questionnaire (MCQ). The results demonstrated that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group in resiliency and marital conflicts. It can be concluded that training in the Olson Circumplex Model has increased resiliency and decreased marital conflict in couples and this effect was durable over the time. Considering the findings of the present research, it can also be concluded that the Olson Circumplex Model can be used by specialists and family therapists.

The family is an important part of human fate and plays a vital role in choosing the style and career of future life, pshychic and emotional health and human performance. Parents' personality, their psychological and physical health, and also the parenting styles they employ, affect the children’s behaviors. The aim of this study was to test the causal relationship between parental meta-emotion and child resiliency, mediated by the role of emotional intelligence. A total of 240 participants were selected from Yasuj university students in school year 1392-1393.The data were gathered using 3 inventories: Conner-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC), the Emotional Intelligence Scale Sharing (EISSH) and Swinburne Meta-Emotion Philosophy Scale (SMEPS). The results of data analysis showed that there is a good fit between the model and the gathered data. The direct paths from coaching to emotional intelligence, awareness to emotional intelligence, emotional intelligence to resiliency and coaching to resiliency were significant. The indirect paths from coaching to resiliency and awareness to resiliency were also significant. But the direct path from awareness to resiliency was not significant. The model showed a causal relationship between parental meta-emotion and child resiliency, mediated by the role of emotional intelligence. This shows that parental awareness of different kinds of children’s emotions and guiding them when experiencing these emotions, would be a good help for them to improve their emotional proficiency, emotional management and making a good relationship with others. As a results, it can enhance children’s compatibilities and resiliency in difficult situations.
